Derriere Les Pois

Derriere Les Pois is a jacquard woven fine art piece inspired by a previous swatch collectionI wove. In this piece, double cloth is used only in certain areas to create two separate fabrics connected by the drawn motifs. This piece was inspired by decaying and peeling baroque wallpaper. The floats obscure and expose the background design, reflecting erosion and preservation. In weaving, long floats are generally frowned upon due to their structural instability and their impracticality. These swatches are an experiment challenging these ideas, showcasing technique and structured weaves within floats.
