Rose Bush

Rose Bush is an open work woven piece done on an 8 harness loom. With a dyed warp and spray painted stretched canvas background, this piece involves many different mediums, exploring the tension between fragility and structure. The muted pinks and creams evoke the intimacy of skin, while frayed edges and loosened threads suggest a surface marked by time, care, and disruption. Embedded botanical fragments act as quiet markers of preservation and decay, holding traces of what once was. Through this work, I consider how textiles can carry memory, how acts of weaving attempt to hold together what is already shifting and coming undone.
