Hier Encore
This piece is an homage to my grandfather, who has been strong, battling illness. The lyrics to one of his favorite artist, Charles Aznavour’s song “Hier Encore”, a song that reflects on youth and lost time. In this context, the lyrics take on a deeper, more personal resonance. They are no longer just poetic reflections, but echoes of a life I am watching change. This work is not only about loss, but about closeness. About how music carries memory, how a song can become inseparable from a person. In using my grandfather’s favorite song, I am preserving a part of him, even as I confront the reality of what is happening. The piece exists in that space between love and grief, where time feels both fleeting and heavy.
