Float Study Swatches

This is a jacquard woven swatch collection where double cloth is used only in certain areas to create two separate fabrics connected by the drawn motifs. This piece was inspired by decaying and peeling baroque wallpaper. The floats obscure and expose the background design, reflecting erosion and preservation. In weaving, floats are generally frowned upon due to the lack in structure and its impracticality. These swatches are an experiment challenging these ideas, showcasing technique and structured weaves within floats.
